Community Preparedness NightThe City of Fountain will be having a community preparedness night on November 1, 2019 starting at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at City Hall, 116 S. Main St., Fountain Colorado. 

Come join the community in learning and engaging with preparedness.  

Sign up for Emergency Notifications:

Professionals from the 911 Authority will be registering phones to receive emergency notifications.  Registering your home and cell phones for this service can save your life! If an emergency occurs in your area, your phone will notify you with a pre-recorded message telling you what the emergency is and what, if anything you need to do. This important service is available at NO CHARGE.

Sign up for Home Safe Program:

The Police Department personnel will be registering individuals with disabilities such as but not limited to Autism, Dawn Syndrome, Physical/Mental Disabilities and non-verbal. The Fountain Police Department will collect and retain the listed information to respond to calls for service involving the person registered in order to promote effective interaction with him/her, and, if applicable, to return the person home or to another responsible person(s). You will find the application online to get the list of disabilities and considerations.  NO CHARGE for this service.

Please fill out the form completely (PDF below "FPD Home Safe Program"), along with a photo of the party you would like to register, and bring the photo and form with you to the event. If you would like more information on this program please attend the Community Preparedness on November 1, 2019.

Fire Safety in the Home:

Fire is the biggest enemy that your home could have. According to research, 80% of fires reported occur in the home. Close to 4000 deaths in a year has been attributed to house fire. Because of this alarming state of fire casualties, it is important to keep your home safe from fire. The Fountain Fire Department will be on hand to go over family safety plans. Keep you and your home safe by minimizing your risks. There will be information on how to use a fire extinguisher, smoke alarms, escape plans for your family and Holiday fire safety tips.

Regional Preparedness:

The Regional Preparedness team from EL Paso/City of Colorado Springs will be available to answer questions on Natural catastrophes, from flooding to western wildfires, this will be a fresh reminder that disaster can strike at any time. And no area of the country is immune, when you factor in the threat of tornadoes, and human disasters like toxic spills. While the circumstances may differ, it is important to know what to do. They will cover issues to prepare for those disasters and what you can do be a step ahead.

Code Compliance/Volunteer Program:

Code Compliance Officers will be available to answer questions on City Ordinances, our Child Car Seat Program and how to volunteer for the Recycling Center. Are you retired or would like to give back to the Community come sign up for the Recycling Center. The Recycling Center is open 3 days a week, Tuesday-Thursday 10am-1pm and the first Saturday of the month.
