Recycling Center Collecting Food

Recycling Center has started a food collection point
Posted on 02/20/2019

The Recycling Center has started a food collection point at their location on 301 E. Iowa Ave.

The food collection was started during the holiday season, with the intent to continue it throughout the year. So far, more than 200 lbs. of food have been collected.  If you donate 10 lbs. of food, you’ll receive a plastic tote, which is hand crocheted by one of the Recycling Centers volunteers, Rhonda Bauer, from recycled plastic grocery bags!  She is usually working on one in between helping customers at the Recycling Center.

The food that is collected is donated to First United Methodist Church, a local church that has a food pantry, and also hosts a soup kitchen on Friday Nights from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

The Soup Kitchen is working at stopping hunger in the Fountain Valley Area one meal at a time. Local organizations help support and host this weekly outreach for the Fountain Valley Community.  Looking to help host a Friday night Community Soup Kitchen?  Please contact the Church Office at 719-382-5113

If you’d like to make a donation to the food bank, the Recycling Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 10:00- 1:00 pm and the first Saturday of the month from 9:00 am–noon.
